“Dreaming of our feet planted exactly where they are.” I have the hubris to think I know how your younger self would feel to see you now: relieved. Perhaps I’m simply projecting based on my own life, but there we are. As ever, a lovely meditation.

Beautifully said, as always. Thank you, Danusha, for your bravery in sharing your own life stories. I am touched by your story of your child; my sister was severely developmentally disabled and I remember my Dad carrying her until he couldn't any longer. I do believe the paths we don't choose often teach us the most about life's meaning in the end.

"The second round of innocence"....I love this notion. I take it in as innocence gets lost and returns, gets lost and returns...but never lost forever. I really enjoy and feel nourished by your essays. <3

Your essay, full of spare honesty and grace, reminded me of the turning point after my first life broke. I was on the beach, east coast of Madagascar under an unfamiliar hemisphere of stars. I was 38, which seems laughably young, but I was mourning my chance at conventional family life. I gazed at the dark sea, the big dipper spilling above and knew I’d be happy if I could share that beauty. It was the best wish I ever made.

" . . . when we love the world even though we know better, even though it will sometimes break our heart". I so love this!

It took me a long time to love the world with, not despite, to recognize that I and my life are a part of the world and our world a part of me. To view the violence and suffering with compassion is the hardest of all. Today it is simpler just to love this gorgeous magical world as it is but this only happened when I could like myself just as I am. We keep compartmentalizing when, perhaps the world ,life, and we are all a part of this huge flow of universal energy. Still mulling over this...

I love what you have shared so openly and simply what can, in fact, be neither. Thank you, Danusha. With love, always
