Welcome! Hello Friends,

Isn’t it amazing how we get to connect at such distances? I’m grateful for the way that a life on the page helps create a life beyond it. So many of my most meaningful connections come from having a life in writing, with writers and readers. I like to say I was raised by poets. And it’s true to this day.

I’m hoping that this will be a fruitful place to engage in conversations about the making of a poem and the making of a life in writing. I wish I could go back and tell my younger self it’s worth it, to trust Poetry. To trust life and myself. Oh—-and I can! I’m a writer! We can transcend time and space. At least on the page. ; )

So if you’re at a crossroads in your life, I want to say the same thing to you. Trust it. Trust the path that calls you. That has your name on it. Life is short enough as it is.

We can practice that trust together. And delve into the practice of writing. Or maybe, for you it’s painting. It was for me, once upon a time. My teacher, the painter Eduardo Carrillo, taught me that it doesn’t matter what you choose—-as long as it’s something you love and you dedicate yourself to spend a little time with it every day. Here’s one of his paintings (shared from Museo Eduardo Carrillo)

Whatever it is, it chose you. And you love it. Love adds up over time. Especially if we attend to it. Let’s attend to what we love together, and see what that attention brings.

In poetry,

Danusha
